Celtic Winds Cockers

A while back, we started Celtic Winds. Our foundation girl, Ambertru Celtic Dreams (Kaylee), was my first show cocker but not my first show dog. She was everything I wanted in a pup and her loving nature and exceptional temperament along with her lovely structure was a real credit to her line. In 2000, I had her OFA done, she was rated Excellent, and her CERF and thyroid were both clear/normal. So she was bred to CH Dazlin Rockit. They produced 6 exceptionall pups of which I kept one. Celtic Winds Yule Folly (Julie). On May 22nd, Kaylee passed away from complications during a routine surgery. If it hadn't been for the doctor, I am sure we would not have even had time to say goodbye, however, my wonderful vet didn't give up on her. As I drove out to be at her side, I had a feeling it would be the end. She waited until I arrived, looked at me and I could see she was going. I told her I would miss her and gave her a kiss on the head and she passed away. Kaylee was a fantastic dog and she is very missed. Her daughter Julie had taken up Kaylee's place at my side - constantly underfoot on on the couch beside me since her mother passed until this spring.  During my move to Austin to begin my studies at the University of Texas, Julie became ill and I nearly lost her as well. Pyometria is not common, but can be lethal if not diagnosed early and treated. Julie underwent an emergency spay surgery and was ill for some time after that
. The loss of her ability to reproduce has unfortunately ended our hopes for that line.  Julie returned to NY while I remained at school to recover fully. This spring, Lilly wandered into my life here in Austin. A beautiful blue point Balanese kitten, she was severely malnurished and nearly died. It was fate, being here in Austin alone during the school year separated from my family, Lilly has entertained and made me laugh through the good and bad while I finish the semester. She's more dog and clown than cat.
